Hey, I'm Marky and MidwestLove is what I call my art.
I've been tattooing since 2015 and I love it more than anything. Prior to tattooing, I spent 10 years as a graphic artist and illustrator, making album covers and apparel for your favorite bands while touring around the country playing music. Being heavily involved in the independent music scene, I was surrounded by tattoos. I've always been inspired by the artistry and tradition of tattooing and its influence started making its way into my art. Eventually I found myself getting tattooed and hanging around in tattoo shops. Now, I get to honor the culture and history of tattooing by studying its past and honing my craft every day. I love making dark, beautiful, modern designs based on timeless themes. I currently tattoo out of Dark Heart Tattoo in Crystal Lake, Illinois where I completed my formal apprenticeship under Joseph Beatty, although I've been fortunate enough to learn countless things from many other great tattooers. I specialize in large, drawn-on botanical and floral work, black & grey tattoos, illustrated realism, and nature-inspired designs. I'm also super passionate about bright and bold American traditional tattooing, but truthfully I enjoy making tattoos in almost any style. I'd love to make your next favorite tattoo for you. Thanks!
